“To paint is to drift into a world of colors and shapes. I always hope to bring out of this world a little bit of beauty that I can share with everyone.”
Susan Hanna Rau has spent her life exploring various art media. She was fortunate to find a dedicated teacher early in life who strongly influenced her artistic development.. After moving to the shore, she continued to work at developing and improving her art through a wide variety of learning opportunities including seminars and workshops covering oils, acrylics, pastels and watercolors. She has attended scheduled classes with recognized instructors throughout the northeast.
Rau shows her work at the Ocean Arts Center, the Artists’ Consortium and the Riverfront Renaissance Arts Center in Millvillle, and the Ocean City Fine Arts League. Rau’s work was selected for showing at the prestigious Monmouth County Arts Council Show at the Monmouth County Museum, and at the Ocean City Fine Arts League, where her piece was awarded First Place. In June, 2007, Rau had a one-artist show at the Fine Arts League in Ocean City. She has had work at the Tuckerton Seaport show, and has also been selected for the National Endowment for the Arts show in Cape May Court House in 2004 through the present; several years, she has received awards regularly in the Professional category. She also has regularly had work selected in juried shows at the Riverfront Renaissance Arts Center.
During the month of February through March, 2008, Rau’s work was presented with one other artist in the Pat Witt Gallery of the Renaissance Riverfront Art Center in Millville, where it was featured at the Third Friday on High Street. She was back at the Renaissance Center in May and June in the alcove in the main gallery, and has shown work regularly in The Alcove at the Renaissance Center.
Rau teaches painting at the Ocean City Arts Center, the Ocean City Fine Arts League, and The Artists’ Consortium in Millville.
