Light is what drives award winning artist Mollie O'Mara to paint in watercolor and pastel. As the hours go by, the sun reveals light in in beautiful, various ways to envoke an energy that is both familiar and unknown. Her style is free, loose and impressionistic while capturing the true essence of the scene. She brings the viewer back to a place where they have been or would like to enter.
O'Mara is well know for her bridges, old and new, that cross the bays and rivers of the Jersey Shore, as well as bringing her gift of photography into her art work. She has photographed many children on the beach, in the surf, with their Moms and Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas and cousins. Family means everything to Mollie O'Mara and it emerges through her stunnning black and white photographs and colorful paintings of children in their favorite environment...the beach!
Mollie holds a BFA in scenic design/drama from The Catholic University of America and has been the art instructor at The Epiphany School in New York City for the past 13 years. She has exhibited her work throughout New York and New Jersey and her paintings are in homes old and new in Ocean City and across the country.
O'Mara teaches privately and at the Ocean City Arts Center in painting, photography and acting.
