Visit Leon's work at: Leon Wescoat Art
Leon Wescoat, III was born and raised in a tugboat family spending much time throughout his youth towing up and down the East Coast. His Dad and Grandfather taught him to appreciate maritime settings and that love has carried over into his adult life.
With a quarter century of artwork to his credit and no formal training, he creates images from memory and blends oils to capture every intricate detail of each subject. As a member of the American Society of Marine Artists he is able to spread his love, knowledge and respect of the Sea and all of its treasures through exhibits and juried shows.
His artwork has been seen at Great Bay Art Gallery, Somers Point, NJ; Atlantic City Art Gallery, Atlantic City, NJ; Galloway Cultural Art Center, Galloway, NJ; Ocean City Art Center, Ocean City, NJ; Ocean Life Center, Atlantic City, NJ; Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia, Pa; Coos Bay Maritime Art Museum, Coos Bay, Oregon and Noyes Museum of Art in Galloway, NJ as well as numerous private collections throughout the country. Leon was also named as an official artist of the United States Coast Guard in 2001.
Leon lives with his wife and children in Absecon, NJ and continues to work in the field of marine construction. Leon’s love of the water and outdoors allows him to easily portray marine life and lush landscapes as well.
