Painter Elizabeth Tasker was born and raised in Southern New Jersey. The love of the outdoors was instilled at a very young age. First introduced to oil paints as a teenager at The Barn Studio of Art in Millville, New Jersey under the direction Pat Witt. Oil paint brought art and nature together in a creative partnership of visual representation using color and form.
Elizabeth graduated from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia as a painting major and the University of Pennsylvania with a BFA. Studies continued at Rowan University, graduating with a MAE.
After teaching art in the public schools for 35 years, Elizabeth continues teaching at The Barn Studio of Art. Besides being a landscape painter, Elizabeth has completed several murals for various churches and schools in the area. Along with her husband Kevin, also a painter, she continues to live and paint in the south jersey area.
Artist Statement
My paintings are a moment when the light and the landscape stand still. I try to capture the moment and convey that sense of place.
Oil paints have always been my medium of choice. The way the colors blend, the texture of the paint as it is mixed and the way the paint goes from palette to canvas. It's an old friend that always has something new to teach me.
