Visit Betty's work at: Fernandez Fine Art
Painting is my way of appreciating and preserving familiar places, people and things as I see them in this moment in time. It is by working that I find my ideas evolving and taking shape, until the essence of my subject comes through. Oil painting aligns itself with that process by being pliable and forgiving, allowing me ample time to capture my view of the ever-changing world.
Betty Fernandez was born in Argentina and moved to the US at an early age. She began her formal training at the Art Students League in Vytlacil, NY, where she developed her love of outdoor still life. Betty continued her studies on figure painting and drawing at the New York Academy of Art and at the Long Island Academy of Art. She received academic training as a full-time student at Atelier Armetta, NY. Her medium of choice is oils; familiar places and objects provide endless inspiration as the light and the seasons transforms them. Betty paints mostly outdoors.
