The Sarah Mooney-Tronco Collection

Sarah Mooney-Tronco is an artist and social worker from Warren, Pennsylvania. Sarah has a BFA in Art Education from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, and a Masters in Social Work from Stockton University. When she first moved to New Jersey in 2011, Sarah was inspired to create The Boardwalk Cats series after observing the cats that lived under the boardwalk in Atlantic City.

Over time, the series evolved organically, first starting as a doodle, to a painting, and eventually to the collection of pieces that it exists as now. The paintings contain bizarre scenarios with personified cats, snakes, dogs, and other creatures. Each painting is full of bright, saturated colors, with themes that are both playful and personal to the artist. Furthering the development of the series, Sarah also draws comics and cartoons. This provides an opportunity to develop the personalities of The Boardwalk Cat characters in a different way, and to make jokes.

Sarah also explores a variety of media and subject matter outside of The Boardwalk Cats series.
